Thanks to the Company of Praise Youth Choir, some of whom packed food at our facility this Saturday while others helped out at the SE Ohio Food Bank.
This group came to Athens on spring break to sing and do good. From left to right: Sandy Pietrowicz, Deborah Holl, Savannah Kirby, Brice Leidy, Carole Lavin, Kayla Pijanowski, Dave McDowell (director and brother of Rev. McDowell, 1st United Methodist Church pastor), Curttis Druck, Larry Morgan.
Thanks to Keith Adams, Jeff, and all the fresh food staff at our Athens Walmart for setting aside banana boxes for the Athens County Food Pantry. The non-perishable food we provide to our clients can get heavy, and banana boxes with handles are just the right size. We go through around 48 a week! We appreciate the extra effort the Walmart team is doing to help us fight hunger in Athens county. Thank you!
Want to fight hunger and food insecurity in Athens County? Concerned about your neighbors going hungry? The Athens County Food Pantry has been supplying food to Athens County residents in need for over 35 years. We are urgently seeking volunteers to be the “face of the food pantry” to distribute food or to greet and register qualifying community members.
We need volunteers who are able to regularly work at least one three hour shift between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Tuesdays or Thursdays, and who are able to get to our main distribution site at the Athens Jobs and Family Services complex. We can work with you, so your schedule can be flexible. You will enjoy time spent with a caring group of people giving back in a safe environment!
Want to help, but can’t commit to shifts? We have a few volunteer jobs, such as writing Thank You notes, that can be done on an “as needed” basis. Please e-mail volunteer-coordinator@athenscountyfoodpantry.org, or call 740-590-7051.
Boxes and bags of food, ready for delivery.
