Volunteer to help fight hunger in Athens County

Helping prepare food aid

Want to fight hunger and food insecurity in Athens County? Concerned about your neighbors going hungry? The Athens County Food Pantry has been supplying food to Athens County residents in need for over 35 years. We are urgently seeking volunteers to be the “face of the food pantry” to distribute food or to greet and register qualifying community members.

We need volunteers who are able to regularly work at least one three hour shift between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Tuesdays or Thursdays, and who are able to get to our main distribution site at the Athens Jobs and Family Services complex. We can work with you, so your schedule can be flexible. You will enjoy time spent with a caring group of people giving back in a safe environment!

Want to help, but can’t commit to shifts? We have a few volunteer jobs, such as writing Thank You notes, that can be done on an “as needed” basis. Please e-mail volunteer-coordinator@athenscountyfoodpantry.org, or call 740-590-7051.

A very big thank you to the members of the Ohio University Student Alumni Board- and their supporters, for conducting a food drive event to benefit the Athens County Food Pantry today. They delivered an amazing 2,200 pounds of shelf stable food to us! Thanks to everyone that contributed to the effort!
